Totally brill news

Annie and Pete are back - hurrah hurrah let joy be unconfined - for 2 weeks only. Exploit them while you can; Pete has already fixed the hot water in Rue St- S., where there wasn't any. Bliss to sit under the stars and catch up over my indifferent cooking (*hint for poor cooks - eat in the dark)
In the excitement forgot to snap them but they look fabulously great.

Here is other news... roof over the café on the bridge being re-done and below that, the view from the hen house. Must be the best appointed hen-house in Tilling.

Last night dinner/tonight apero

Been avoiding blogging specific dinners lately, since they can only be of particluarly local interest. However, last nights was very good and I wanted to thank the participants who were all on form, funny and witty. Just immediate neighbours, Pete and Nel, Leo and Ian and Kat - old familiar friends. I've been sniggering all day at some of the double entendres that emerged, all far too filthy to post.
It felt like the start of the end of the summer.

And this evening had the great good luck to run into Petes extended family. A too-swift apero revealed that Helen is writing about female artists, especially Cornish ones -her site is beautiful, well written and informative. See www.cornishmuse.blogspot.com. Heres hoping that she and Simon will return and we can finish chattering about the wealth of artists who never get above the parapet.

No idea what the photo above is of but isn't it nice? - it was taken at dinner with the Othans in Lastours in August. Forgot to take any last night.

Tilling welcomes bicylists...

...but only if they are going from the new bridge to the rec., still its a start - bizarre, as it must be the least car-used road in Tilling since it reaches a dead end. And anyway you can cycle on the verge under the trees.
I hear rumours of a roundabout at the top too (where the flags are), which leads to the inescapable conclusion that the mayor has got some road infrastructure money that must be used.
At least a roundabout will slow the traffic.I have absolutely no idea what or where this is, has anyone else?
and below of course are little fishes, clearly visible (if you click on the pic and big it up) Snapped in the mighty River Aude, by the bicycle path.
Both the Independent and La Depeche today carry articles on excitements at Rennes-le-Chateau. The nephew of the mysterious Abbé Saunier is trying to claim his, the priests', prayer book, taken from his grave when he was dis-interred prior to being reburied by the museum.
It seems that permission had not been given by the family to move his body.
Since this is well known locally, it has been assumed - certainly by me - that they didn't move him, just closed the graveyard and created a new (empty) tomb. Why? Because then you have to pay to get into the museum and reach it, of course. Though why you should want to see his tomb, hey, what do I know. Interesting that the mayor and team HAVE moved him, anyway.

Would look up the links but late for dinner. More anon.

Get sorting...

OK I know about the deliberate error but too late to change it, Ive only so much patience with techie stuff... anyway, start that autumn clearout soon and get ready to bring stuff to give for a good cause -to provide help and support for cancer sufferers, especially foreigners in France.

It aint Paris but...

theres never a dull moment! Here is a photo of the crossing outside the Mairee being painted
and a beautiful picture of a dead bee.

Actually life is a little friskier than that; there was a meeting at the MJC last night, dont forget the AGM is next week; afterwards Kat and I ate supper together and downed a bottle of red rather too quickly(in my case) so we had to go to the bar for a muscat.

Luke told us about the drains at l'Orygin'l. It appears that as soon as the place opened there were problems and the beautiful new floor had to be taken up. Where it was found that the sewage pipes had been deliberately chiseled through at several points. No-one knows who dunnit but Luke says if we hear anything to let him know...

First big autumnal mist this morning.

another art death

http://www.guardian.co.uk/artanddesign/2011/sep/13/richard-hamilton-artist-dies

just when you think all the great London artists have died, another one bites the dust. I didn't know Hamilton but I met him and knew him through others. He was very much loved.

Bet David Hockney is watching his blood pressure.
